A survey of the young generation beginning in the construction field by HWB Construction revealed some things about the business they need to change.
Work-life
balance
Of the 500 youngsters in the
business that participated in the survey, 9 out of 10 were happy with their jobs,
but an area that they see opportunity to improve in is work-life balance. 16%
cited this as something they need to see change. They argued that the drive to complete
the projects regardless of whether it is a fit-out, refurbishment or some other
sort of building job – as quickly as potential ways long working hours that can
be costly to home lives.
Gender
balance
The same survey revealed that sexual equality inside the business stays an issue, with the absence of women in senior positions being an issue cited to by some young women who took part. 45% of young male participants said that entering the construction industry had been recommend to them at school, while just 23% of young women said the same. This continued with lack of gender parity that might be a contributory factor in the long hours. It is also expected of laborers carrying out construction jobs, as an ongoing piece in an image found that the desire to spend time with their children is still seen by many managers as one that influences women more than men.
How next generation can change things?
Clearly this is an issue that the
